Tarragon Allergy

At least that's what I'm calling it as it seems that there's an allergy for everything now. I believe SOME of them but I reckon a lot are just people who don't like things telling lies.  I only realised I had a tarragon 'allergy' at the weekend when I visited Somerset. I tried a friend's garnish and it was absolutely repulsive. It was medicinal and aniseedy (does anyone really like aniseed? Surely it's only meant for shots and old fashioned sweets) and although I have had tarragon before, it wasn't until that moment that I realised I really hate it! Following this taster, and my vow to never eat tarragon again, I ordered the fish and chips.  Tucking into what I thought was tartare sauce I nearly threw up.  I was sure this vile tasting sauce with a lumpy, almost curdled texture, was off.  I got a few people to have a taste and lo and behold: it had tarragon in it.  Why the hell would you put tarragon in a tartare sauce (if it was that) or with fish at all?!?!? Baffled and repulsed.  Needless to say, the offer of tarragon sausages for breakfast on Sunday was vehemently declined.

This is what I've eaten in the past week:
En Route to Somerset McDonalds
Seafood Tartine
My starter at the Poulett Arms in Somerset.  A really lovely gastropub aside from the tarragon:
Fish and Chips (and gross tartare sauce)
The triple cooked chips are absolutely amazing.
Seafood Salad
There was a bit of a fishy theme this weekend. I had this at the Hive Beach Cafe. It's a bit of an annoying system of queueing but the food was good with large portions and very fresh. The beach itself is beautiful although the sea was freezing!
Cheeseburger
After a full English in the morning with the most amazing Sundried Tomato Sausages (I have ordered some for myself) we needed something to help us through the marathon 5 and a half our journey home. Our lovely weekend in Somerset was bookended with McDonalds. Classy.

The rest of my eatings are not in any order as the computer mixed them all up and I'm too lazy to try and remember the correct order:
M&S Egg Mayo Sandwich (for breakfast)
 Tuna and Sweetcorn Jacket Potato
I bought the low fat tuna from Sainsburys and the potato from the canteen.  The tuna is weird and shiny. I don't really enjoy it but then that's probably because it's low fat.
 Chicken Fajitas
 Fruit and Fibre
 Marmite on Krispbread (pre-Zumba snack)
Tuna Mayo Sandwich with Pickled Onions
 Muller Greek Corner
 Pork Burger and Wedges
This was a compromise between normal burger and pork meatballs.
 Aparagus and Parma Ham Tart
This was meant to have leeks in it but we forgot to buy them. It's not as good but still tasty.
 Pancakes with Nutella
Who needs pancake day? A standard pud for us.
 More Tart
Nandos Chicken in Pitta and Peri Peri Chips
I'd been craving this for ages. I needed it!
 Skinny Blueberry Muffin
 Poached Egg on Toast
 Even More Tart
 Curry Goat
I actually did this with real goat for the first time. Bit of a mission getting it though as my preferred shops didn't sell it and another couldn't advise me efficiently. I finally got it and couldn't work out how much to get as it had bones in. Anyway the curry came out very well and the meat was lovely and tender but there were way too many bones for my liking. I may revert back to lamb because of this. We also made roti for the first time inspired my friend who made them for us at the weekend. Really simple recipe and I much prefer them to rice (although we had rice too). I'm definitely making these again.

It has become apparent in the last few weeks that I'm incapable of updating this blog daily. I will do my best to update as often as possible however, and certainly more often than I have been.  That's the plan anyway.
